How Pageants Make Me a Better Leadership Coach
As a leader (and leadership coach!) it’s necessary to practice what you preach.
I preach excellence, challenging yourself, and leveling up.
One of the ways I do that for myself (and thus for my clients) is through pageantry.
I don’t just help others level up their careers and development, I need to do the work on myself, too.
Training for and competing in pageants is an excellent way for me to reflect on who I am and who I want to be, and what it means to be the best version of me - mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Besides the physical work of learning and practicing your walk, modeling, stance, & movement, training also includes:
self-reflection
knowing and naming your values
being able to speak passionately, professionally, concisely, and clearly
vulnerability
standing for something bigger than yourself
authenticity
fundraising
It takes a lot more than makeup and hair extensions to show up as the best version of yourself.
I challenge myself each time I compete to learn more deeply about myself internally AND be able to show that externally.
My self-awareness and self-assurance need to shine through my involvement, my words, my writing, my physical presence, my relationships, on stage, when presenting, when competing…you get it :)
I am eternally proud to represent my home, Louisiana, and the best version of myself with my state title!
And if this sounds like your jam, I would love to work with you as your pageant coach!
