Four Fabulous Fiction Series You Need to Read! | Recommended Reading

Updated: Jan 20, 2022

There is just something magical about enjoying the perfect book on the beach or while on a flight. If you're taking vacation this summer, or you just need the perfect book to read poolside, I've got a few suggestions! This list of my favorite fiction series, which I originally posted a few months ago, is full of great recommendations.

Crazy Rich Asians Series by Kevin Kwan (3 books; 1 movie)

This series is unlike anything I’ve read. The author takes us into the elite aristocracy of Singapore and, in such incredible detail, gives us a full view into the lifestyle and culture of his home while creating some really cool and crazy characters. Each of the three books includes many of the same characters, but the focal characters, activities, and locations change enough to make each book distinct from the others. It’s a really creative, interesting, and a crazy ride to go on!

A Wrinkle In Time Series by Madeline L’Engle (5 books; 1 movie)

I first read A Wrinkle in Time in middle school and loved it. It’s what sparked my love of fantasy, magic, other realms, time travel, and the like. When the movie was made in 2018 I remembered how much I enjoyed the book and reread it in anticipation of the movie. I again liked it so much, even as an adult, that I read the rest of the books in the series! They are exciting, fun, easy reads with quality characters, excellent life lessons, and lots of imagination. If you want a bit of nostalgia, something to read as a family, or something easy to read in a weekend, this series is where it’s at!

Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling (7 books; 8 movies; 2 spinoff movies; 1 play; and an entire fandom)

These are my favorite books that have ever been written ever in the history of human civilization. I feel that strongly about these books, these characters, this magical world, and their author. Read them. Reread them. Cherish them.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children Series by Ransom Riggs (5 books; 1 movie)

If Harry Potter is my #1 favorite series, Miss Peregrine’s is sitting snugly right up against it as #2. Other than Harry Potter, these are the only books I have ever reread. That is extremely high praise from me. This is like if you blended Harry Potter and X-Men together with some really high quality writing and super amazing character development. The author also weaves cool/strange historical photos into the story which makes for a totally unique reading experience. These are books I get lost in. I feel like this story and these characters are part of me now. I adore this series and cannot suggest it highly enough for young adults and grown adults alike!

Did any of these series catch your attention?

Don't forget, when you're ready for something new to read, your local public library is an amazing resource. If you don't have a library card, WHAT are you EVEN doing? Whether you love to hold a physical book OR you just want a quick ebook download, they've got you! So go visit them!
