Personal Development Questions Spotlight: Monica Rougeau

If you've been keeping up with my posts on social media, you know I feature a great personal development question every week. This week, I asked: "What inspires you?"

Monica Rougeau is certainly an inspiration to me, and she was kind enough to answer some questions about where her inspiration comes from. Monica is the President and Founder of Elevare, “a firm focused on developing people by nurturing the personal and professional transformation of leaders beyond title and position.” Not only is Monica certified in a number of leadership training skills, including True Colors Personality Assessment, Monica is also an active member of the Lafayette community. She is a member of The 705 as well as a member of the current Leadership Lafayette Class XXXIII.

When I asked Monica what inspires her, she said, “People who have the courage to step out in faith to pursue their dreams that will make this world a better place.” Monica does an excellent job of encouraging and supporting those around her, and I know her support has helped me in my journey of becoming a full-time, professional speaker.

I went on to ask Monica what inspired her to start her own business and where she gets the inspiration to continue to grow that business each and every day:

“For me, inspiration comes from a deeper knowing of what I feel I'm being called to do. The motivation to keep moving forward with actionable steps into that space comes from that inner conviction.

I started my business with a passion to bring awareness of what healthy leadership looks like and how to become one."

"After being immersed in toxic cultures that were bred from unhealthy leadership styles (and seeing how it was negatively affecting me as a leader), I finally reached a point where I simply wanted to stop the madness and begin a movement of change," Monica explained.

Monica certainly has begun a movement of change. And it’s apparent in Monica’s answers that inspiration can be a fantastic motivator for creating the change we want to see.

Finally, I asked Monica, “How do you believe you inspire others?”

Her answer: “I believe I help to inspire others by simply showing them the goodness and potential I see in them and to let them know they matter.”

Monica has been an incredible mentor to me, and I am so glad I am able to feature her answers in this Personal Development Question Spotlight.
